The lovely estate of Vittorino and Sonia Valent spreads across 28 acres of manicured vineyards nestled around the bend of a river in the heart of Lison Pramaggiore, in northern Veneto, about an hour away from Venezia. This ancient viticultural area I primarily known for its excellent Tocai, even if additional varieties, both local and “international,” have found a quite comfortable home in the glue-like clayey soil typical of the area. With an annual total production at around 10,000 cases of 16 different wines, this family-run operation puts emphasis on preservation of local varieties and specific vineyard qualities, while releasing wines of great integrity and utter purity of fruit.
